Letter from the Founder

Katharine (Kitty) B. Cushing is the Founder and Managing Principal of 7Sisters, LLC, a consulting business formed to help US companies expand global business relationships. Katharine has led numerous investment forums, special briefings, and global leadership retreats, most notably the Newport Global Summit held annually in Newport, Rhode Island.  

She began her career at H.C. Wainwright & Co. in Boston, Massachusetts, where she was the fourth generation of the Clark family, the senior managing partners of the firm for over 100 years. She became a Managing Director at H.C. Wainwright in 1998 and one of the Founding Partners of Wainwright Investment Counsel in 1999. She joined Neuberger Berman as a Senior VP (2004-2009) and later worked as a consultant to several family offices and various companies in the medical and technology sector.

Katharine has served on numerous boards, including the Providence Facilities Management (affiliate to the Providence Performing Arts Center) and the International Advisory Board of the Anthony Quinn Foundation. She is a former member of the AMIDEAST Board of Directors, the Advisory Council for EFE (Education for Employment), the Board of Directors for the George Washington Institute for Religious Freedom, and the Advisory Board of the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy, She was a member of the ABANA (Arab Bankers of North America) Board of Directors from 2007 to 2014, awarded for her dedicated service and leadership.

Katharine has been inspired by a legacy of extraordinary entrepreneurs and leaders in her family including Forrester (Tim) Clark, Managing Partner of H.C. Wainwright & Co, Benjamin Brewster Jennings, Chairman of Socony (one of the legendary Seven Sisters of the oil industry), Alexander Cushing, Founder of Squaw Valley Ski Corporation, and the many business leaders she has worked with over the years. Katharine is also the great-granddaughter of Howard G. Cushing, a Newport artist of the impressionist age, whose works are part of the permanent collection at the Newport Art Museum.
